My ArtFire Store

Hello! It's been a little while, but I've been very busy, and I'm happy to announce that I have a new online store where you can browse and buy hand-made items by me!

www.artisanem.artfire.com

I've got around 20 products up right now, but I'll be putting more up in the next few days, including some frame-able repeating patterns. You wouldn't believe how gorgeous they look matted, framed and hanging on a wall! So those will be up, along with some more jewelry, and other things. And as usual, proceeds go to my Surtex Fund! Still the remainder of the booth price, and a hotel to pay for... Anything and everything you can give is appreciated and will help!

Happy browsing, happy shopping, and happy day!

Coloring E-Book now available!

Great news! Now you can purchase an e-book version of my Coloring book!

It's true. All you have to do is go to http://www.artfire.com/modules.php?name=Shop&op=listing&product_id=2523797, buy it, and I will email you the password that you need to access the e-book. From there, you can download it, and print out high-resolution images to color. I have included two additional images that aren't in the hardcopy of my book. The cost of the e-book is $8.00, and all proceeds go to my Surtex fund-raising!

Happy Coloring!

5:31

It's 5:31PM on Thursday Sept. 16. I'm listening to Tara Reed's Art Licensing Call with Dena of Dena Designs. It's very informative, and inspiring, which is something I could use right about now. Been less than inspired lately. Dena says to always put your best foot forward, and it's best to create in a series. She says everyone's ready for mixing and matching, like mixing florals with stripes, and all that jazz. She says there are days when she doesn't feel like working, too. Nice to hear from an actual person who's been in the licensing industry for the past 25 years. She also started in the industry without ever having painted or drawn anything – quite the opposite, actually; she thought she hated to paint and draw.

She says if you're passionate about what you do, don't let anyone tell you you can't do it. No one knows whether you'll be the next one whose designs really take off. Inspiring.

That's all for now. I have to go feed some kitty cats.

Bye!

Back from Surtex

Well, it's May 31st (Happy Memorial Day to all), and I've returned from my first Surtex show. I think it went quite well, and I have several contacts with whom I can follow up. I don't want to give away the details yet, but I will keep updating to let you know if a deal is made! I'm excited at the prospect of seeing my artwork on products. It will be the culmination of more than 8 years' focus and work. I shall see it through!

Meanwhile, I've updated my Etsy store again, so it's chock full of cool stuff to buy, to help fund next year's Surtex show (I'm definitely wanting to go back). So head on over there (emmycat.etsy.com) and see if there's something you'd like. I appreciate any and all purchases and/or donations!

Off I go now, to do some more art, but I will keep you posted as to my progress! Thanks for reading!

More pics of necklace

Wanted to add a couple more images to my blog so you guys can get a better view of this new necklace. It's pretty cool!

See ya later!

Hey all!
I'm still getting the hang of this blogging thing, but have come to terms with the idea that it's probably a good thing to keep one, and keep it updated. So...

This is my most recent jewelry design. I'm quite pleased with it: the pendant is glass backed with temperature-sensitive liquid crystal, so it acts sort of like a mood ring... It turns dark blue/green with heat. On the front of the glass I've glued a pewter silhouette of a parrot I created. I then wrapped the pendant with copper wire and strung it on memory wire with copper-colored glass tube beads and wooden oblong beads.

It was very fun to make this necklace, and it will soon be for sale on my shop.

Keep checking back for more updates!

Non-Manic Monday

Hello! This is my first Blog Post. I always swore I wouldn't become one of those people who surf the net all day and update their blogs and sites with boring and useless information, BUT... It would seem as though I, too, have fallen into the trap of the allure of this thing called "Online."

I'd like to make my blog more than just a series of inane and unnecessary updates, though. So wish me luck! I guess I'll start by stating that yes, it's official, I'm going to be exhibiting at Surtex next year! I'm sooo excited about this, and I've been preparing for it by making a model of my booth, and arranging little prints all over it (pictures forthcoming). It's quite a fun journey so far, and I anticipate updating often with new – um – updates.

Til that happens, peace be with you!
